Warning Americans! H.R. 1 and S.1, the “For the People Act of 2021” Is Really “For More Federal Government Control Act”

HR1“This bill is a wolf in sheep’s clothing”

This legislation –791 pages – is a monstrous federal takeover of elections and an assault on the First Amendment. AMAC is working to block this bill from ever becoming law.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will push it hard in the House of Representatives, as was done in the last Congress. It is sponsored by the Speaker and Representatives Sarbanes (D-MD) and Lofgren (D-CA).  Its companion bill in the Senate is S.1, which was sponsored in the last Congress by New Mexico Senator Udall and 46 of his Democrat colleagues.

Leading conservative and Americans For Tax Reform Founder and President Grover Norquist characterizes the threat this legislation poses your freedom and liberty in this way:

Congressional Democrats have a plan to forever keep Republicans from winning elections and influencing policy decisions with H.R. 1 in the House, and the similar S. 1 in the Senate.  They want to empower the government to police more speech, force states to allow vote-by-mail and taxpayer funding of candidates, and silence Americans through fear by exposing their support for issue groups.”

The legislation is carefully written to appear sensible but is in fact deceptive in its effort to assert federal control over voting in our respective states and to build a government record of individual American’s exercise of our God-given and Constitutional right of free political speech.

There are numerous “egregious components” in this legislation.

First, this legislation would be in effect a federal takeover of how states conduct elections for Senators and Representatives, thereby inherently forcing voting election procedures for state and local office to conform to bill’s prescription for the election of Members of Congress.

Here is how the bill deceptively uses the Constitution and the limited prerogative it provides the Congress with respect to the election of Members of the House and Senate.  Turning to the Constitution, Article, Section 4:

The Times, Places, and Manner of holding elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such regulations, except as to the Places of choosing Senators.”

The bill grabs the phrase that “…the Congress may at any time by law make or alter such Regulations or alter such Regulations…”  and effectively preempts in excruciating detail how the States should conduct the election of Members of Congress.  The result is to put the States in the position of administratively having to conform to the provisions of H.R. 1, rather than face the added costs and confusion of having to maintain their pre-existing law and procedures.  In effect, H.R. 1 unconstitutionally constricts and overrides the sovereignty of the States for the conduct of elections.

Here are some examples of the bill’s proposed takeover of all elections when state and local elections coincide with the federal election:

  • Undermines states election oversight, like efforts to clean up old voter rolls.
  • Prohibits requiring a state voter ID to obtain a mail in ballot and permits individuals to sign a sworn statement as to their identify in lieu of an official ID.
  • Virtually eliminates any restrictions on vote-by-mail.
  • Requires states to offer online registration.
  • Requires states to allow same day registration and voting.
  • Requires “automatic’ voter registration by the state of those who would otherwise be eligible to register to vote.
  • Effectively permits “voter harvesting” – picking up and delivering bundles of votes — by making it criminal to interfere with those “assisting others to vote.”
  • Enables partisan control of the Federal Elections Commission by reducing the Commission from 6 to 5 members, thereby effectively facilitating one party oversight of federal elections and campaign finance laws.

H.R. 1 also assaults your First Amendment right to freedom of political speech.  In its effort to go after donors to conservative organizations, it would subject citizens who contribute to nonprofit organizations to political harassment and intimidation by making their personal information available in a searchable government database. In this connection, it would also force groups to publicly identify their supporters on the face of the ads themselves. (Ironically, this sounds like the FDA requirement that prescription drug advertisements must identify the hazards to your health of each drug.)

In its effort to further curtail political free speech by Americans about legislative issues, it would expand the definition of “electioneering communications” – historically limited to large-scale TV and radio campaigns targeted to the electorate in a campaign for office – to include online advertising that bears no relation to an election.  In other words, letters, websites, emails, cell texts, social media messaging, and other online commentary on legislative issues by concerned American citizens and organizations would be redefined as “electioneering communications” – subject to some type of federal oversight.

This legislation must never be enacted, because it is intended both(i) to subvert the Constitution and the essential federalism of our republic to bring one-party control of our nation, and (ii) to limit your freedoms as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.

AMAC Action will be initiating a membership-wide call-to-action in the near future to prevent passage of this bill. We need your help to amplify the voice of opposition to H.R. 1. Please look for details regarding this call-to-action on all AMAC media very soon.

AS A NATIVE AMERICAN- I NEVER FELT I DID NOT BELONG IN THE 4TH LEGISLATIVE BRANCH OF “WE THE PEOPLE” – AS IF MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS ARE COMPROMISED- I WILL REMIND THEM HOW BETRAYED MY FAMILY OR “WE THE PEOPLE” OF THIS LAND- TAKEN WITHOUT ANY KIND OF CONSCIENCE WHEN WE THE PEOPLE THOUGHT WE WERE ALL IN IT FOR THE PROMISE OF AN AMERICAN DREAM? AS WE WATCHED OUR LANDS TAKEN AND WITH A GROSS ENRICHMENT- THAT WE WERE THEN INSULTED TO FIND A NEW TREATY THAT READ- HOW THIS NEW TREATY TRUMPED OLD TREATY- AS ITS THE SOLUTION- THE POWER OF GOVERNMENT. THE REST IS HISTORY- NO DUE PROCESS FOR WE THE PEOPLE- WAS ANNEXED- AS WE ALSO FAUGHT NEXT TO OUR FELLOW AMERICAN SOLDIER- FOR THE RIGHTS TO AMERICA ‘S LAND AND THE CITIZENS- – WE THE PEOPLE, WHO WELCOMED DIVERSITY, AS WE WERE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, AND WITH PREJUDICE, AFTER THE GREAT SACRIFICE OF OUR LAND- AS “HELLO” I KNOW WE ARE SHORT- BUT NOT STUPID, SO IMAGINE THE INSULT- AND THE DEVASTATION OF INCREDIBLE LOSS- AS THE PEOPLE WE FOUGHT AGAINST WERE THE VERY PEOPLE WHO WERE PAID- BUT NOT THOSE WHO FOUGHT FOR THE HOPE OF A BETTER LIFE WE DUBBED THE AMERICAN DREAM- THIS LAND IS OUR LAND THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND- THIS LAND WAS MADE FOR YOU AND ME- AS THE EXPENSE AND DEVASTING LOSS OF OUR LAND WITHOUT COMPENSATION…SO.BACK TO THIS WASTE OF TIME? IF IT DID NOT HAPPEN FOR WE THE PEOPLE BACK WHEN WE TRUSTED THE PROMISE OF IF WE THE PEOPLE HELPED IN THIS FIGHT FOR ANNEXATION OF TEJAS- WE WOULD BE REWARDED AND PAID-.. SO WHY ALL THIS HYPE?

Elections need to follow the current rules in place of in-person or absentee ballot. No mail-ins should be allowed. Requirement of valid government issued ID has to be included in being able to vote. Only people who have valid government issued IDs should be able to apply for absentee ballots. Mail-ins are not in any fashion reliable. I still get mail at a house I haven’t lived in for 38 years, just a case in point. I also applied to be an election inspector to put my money where my mouth is.

The republican party needs to investigate all aspects of this last election. The democrat party used mail-in ballots to cheat in so many different ways, I’m not sure they’ve all been discovered?

Liberals are already jacking up the theft machine to steal another election. May not have a “crisis” to hang another mail in vote on so lets change enough to keep the eye off the pea under the shell. Dad always told me if you have to cheat to win you didn’t really win anyway. Good saying but the left got the pirate in the drivers seat for a while anyway and he’s being as destructive as possible .Patriots have to stop this one or the Socialist take over for good.

Of course, conservatives are against any legislature that would stop them from suppressing the vote. Democracy is poison To the Republicans, who don’t have majority support.

This is unconstitutional according to the 10th amendment. This is something that I taught in my government classes as we studied the Constitution. If passed, it could take years to go thru the courts.

In the past few days, the Republican Party has lost its two greatest assets: 1. The Trump
presidency 2. Rush Limbaugh. The sad thing ( other than these two monumental losses) is that
many republicans don’t even realize it. Most DC republicans are plotting to ” get along ”
with the dims instead of torturing the dims which they should be doing. At least 5 Biden impeachment bills should have already been presented. Other than Trump, Cruz and Hawley, the
Repugnant Party has no fighters. Only docile , lets-just-be-friends, groupies.

This odious bill is a product of an already 1-party government — the Democratic Party and the radical leftists who now control it. This is the result of the ignorance of half the American electorate
which was deluded enough to believe that Trump’s departure and Biden’s entrance would improve and preserve our American values and our republic.

Clearly, H.R. 1 will do the exact opposite. It imperils our republic. It puts our democratic process of self-governance in dire jeopardy through a bill that essentially gives the advantage to a single political party. Like so many legislative initiatives being planned by the left in the back rooms of Congress, this bill would strip constitutional protections from the States as well as from individual citizens. The right to vote in person must be restored in every State. Universal mail-in voting, “vote harvesting,” online voting, and granting the federal government total control of elections must be resolutely resisted by any American who values his or her freedom.

Contact your elected officials NOW. Make your voices against this un-American proposal heard loud and clear. The danger isn’t simply a power grab at the federal level, but also in “Blue” States where Democrat governors would relish the opportunity to stack the deck in favor of their party’s down-ballot candidates as well as President/ Vice-President in 2024.

Makes one wonder just how the families of veterans feel at this point having paid the ultimate price, and those who came home disabled fighting for freedoms elsewhere only to see those very freedoms being eroded by an admin driven by power and greed. Perhaps every “so called rep” of this country should drive through the local veteran cemetery to fully understand the price paid for freedom.

I am appalled at the big government takeover of our freedoms to speak openly about anything we want. I have always been against the 17th amendment which effectively took away a lot of the representation of the individual states at the federal level and I surely don’t want the federal government to take even more power from the states and in turn the people. These bills must be defeated and while we are at it the 17th amendment must be repealed!

I sent my letter to my representative and she responded that she is going to support it as it is a great bill to benefit all voters. I responded that it was full of flaws, that I would be watching for her vote, as well as how she votes on HR 127 and all other bills and that she will lose my support if she votes yes. I am hoping that people will let their representatives know that they are being watched by the people who elected them. We have to hold them accountable.

I emailed our two senators and our representative just now, on my own, in the name of our whole household. All three are Democrats and very liberal, so, at least I am trying to let our voices be heard. Pray, as another commenter said. For God’s mercy on our country. We have strayed so far from things that are right, it seems we are reaping what we’ve sowed. Makes me very sad.

It is simply Unconstitutional. It is an encroachment upon States rights As such it must be presented to Congress as an amendment to the “Constitution of our Republic,” where the States get to Vote upon it.

A Feb 4th article in Time Magazine, “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved The 2020 Election” tells in great detail of all the behind-the-scenes work that created a league of people to see that Nov 3rd results turned out the way ‘they wanted’. The strategy worked so well they’re urging Congress and Senate to push legislation to institute it for all time.

To me it’s promoting/pushing the Federal legislation on States. That’s SO against the Constitution; but then Dems/liberals/progressives could care less.

I have known about this bill for some time. I have been telling everyone & telling them to call their legislatures for some time. This really works me. However this is just an idea if they take our constitutional rights they were given this power for the people by the people? Couldn’t states take there power back if they broke the agreement? I know that isn’t easy but I am grasping at hope not to become a socialist country. If anyone gets a chance read the Declaration of Independence. Biden is doing all the things that we didn’t want by creating the Constitution, Declaration & Bill of Rights.

It’s obvious they are not even trying to conceal the fact that they stole the 2020 election. This even outlines how they did it, and how they plan to do it forevermore. I haven’t heard anyone else voice this. It seems obvious to me.

Actually, the real problem is Dominion software, Hammer and Scoreboard software and numerous other entities have been manipulating our votes long before most here were born. What is the most important thing that needs done is paper votes that are verified by people that have the public’s approval; not the government’s approval. We also need term limits and bring back public executions especially for treason.

In Florida, liberal attorney John Morgan has adopted “Morgan and Morgan…for the People” as the slogan of his law firm, so it is probably no coincidence the act is called “For The People Act of 2021.” Morgan was behind the campaign to legalize marijuana in Florida and has more tricks up his sleeve for the future. Beware of anything initiated by the Democrats and view their initiatives with great suspicion. They are out for themselves and could not care less about “the people.” In my opinion we need to eliminate early voting, go back to a single election day and count absentee ballots prior to election day. It worked well in the past and there was no reason to change it.
