Attorney General William Barr has authorized federal prosecutors across the country to “pursue substantial allegations” of voting irregularities, according to a leaked memo.
“I authorize you to pursue substantial allegations of voting and vote tabulation irregularities prior to the certification of elections in your jurisdictions in certain cases, as I have already done in specific instances. Such inquiries and reviews may be conducted if there are clear and apparently credible allegations of irregularities that, if true, could potentially impact the outcome of a federal election in an individual State,” read part of the 2-page internal memo.
The memo was reportedly sent to U.S. attorneys, assistant attorneys general for the criminal division, civil rights division, national security division, and the director of the FBI.
“Any investigation of claims of irregularities that, if true, would clearly not impact the outcome of a federal election in an individual State should normally be deferred until after the election certification process is completed. While U.S. Attorneys maintain their inherent authority to conduct inquiries and investigations as they deem appropriate, it will likely be prudent to commence any election-related matters as a preliminary inquiry so as to assess whether available evidence warrants further investigative steps,” it added.
The memo said that Department of Justice (DOJ) personnel should “exercise appropriate caution” and “maintain the Department’s absolute commitment to fairness, neutrality, and non-partisanship.”
“You are the most senior leaders in the United States Department of Justice and I trust you to exercise great care and judgment in addressing allegations of voting and vote tabulation irregularities,” Barr wrote. “While serious allegations should be handled with great care, specious, speculative, fanciful or far-fetched claims should not be a basis for initiating federal inquiries.”
Barr also noted that the memo does not suggest that the DOJ has concluded that voting irregularities have in the past impacted the outcome of any election.
“Rather, I provide this authority and guidance to emphasize the need to timely and appropriately address allegations of voting irregularities so that all of the American people, regardless of their preferred candidate or party, can have full confidence in the results of our elections,” the memo said. “The American people and the leaders they freely elect deserve nothing less.”
On Sept. 2, amid Republican concerns of voter fraud due to the unprecedented distribution of mail-in ballots, Barr said during an appearance on CNN that he was aware of several “very big” voter fraud investigations in multiple states due to reported issues with mail-in ballots.
“This is playing with fire. We’re a very closely divided country here and people have to have confidence in the results of the election and the legitimacy of the government. And people trying to change the rules to this methodology—which as a matter of logic is very open to fraud and coercion—is reckless and dangerous,” he said at the time.
Now that voting has closed, Barr is encouraging department staff to pursue further investigations that were not possible before the election.
According to the DOJ’s policies described in the Criminal Division’s manual of Federal Prosecutions of Election Offenses (pdf), there are several legal and investigative considerations that staff must consider when investigating and prosecuting election offenses.
“Voters should not be interviewed, or other voter-related investigation done, until after the election is over” to avoid actions that may act to “chill legitimate voting activities” or lead to the perception that the department is intruding on the election, the manual says. It also specifies that “in most cases, election-related documents should not be taken from the custody of local election administrators until the election to which they pertain has been certified, and the time for contesting the election results has expired.”
There was no suggestion in Barr’s memo for staff to break from department policies at any stage of their potential future investigations.
A number of media outlets declared Democratic nominee Joe Biden as president-elect on Nov. 7, after they projected victories for the former Vice President in the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Nevada, putting him over the 270 electoral vote threshold.
President Donald Trump has alleged voter fraud and said any declarations of victory are premature, with his campaign announcing legal challenges in several states.
The Epoch Times Editorial Board will not declare a winner for the 2020 presidential election until all results are certified and any legal challenges are resolved across the country.
You are absolutely right ! The reason we switched over to electronic voting machines was so that elections could be manipulated and cheated. The old clunky machines that you refer to were the best method of voting ever devised . They were accurate and your vote was safe. We should bring them back.
Over half of the States’ electronic voting machines may all contain programming that is designed to switch votes intended for Trump to go to Biden instead. I don’t know if there are any vote fraud schemes more widespread than this . Or more insidious that this. But these electronic voting machines must be inspected and certified. If they fail the inspection, then ALL the votes cast using such machine are suspect and should be voided. AND the programming should be fully vetted .
Another vote fraud method that is reputed to be in use , is the late arrival of ballots that contain votes ONLY for president with all other race marks not present . These ballots are said to all have arrived early in the morning of Nov. 4th, AFTER ELECTION DAY , and were all together . I believe such ballots are for the purpose of building up the number of “votes” for Mr. Biden because the only marks on them were for Mr. Biden. Clearly , such ballots are fraudulent . A kindergarten child could figure that one out . ALL such ballots should be voided and analyzed for any forensic info they may contain . I’d also like to know if these particular ballots were in envelopes AND whether or not they contained USPS postage and whether or not that postage was “franked” . I’d also like to know the count of the envelopes and whether or not that count it equal to the count of ballots .
I noticed on TV that some of the people working the ballot counting areas had pens in their hands. Why would they have pens ? Were they entering “votes” ?. I also hear some ballots needed to be “corrected” . Have they made notes of such “corrections” ? Do we have to take their word for it ?
I hear that virtually all the workers in the ballot counting areas are DEMOCRATS. WHY ? Why are there NO Republican workers there ? Also, workers in those areas have been seen erecting huge sheets of paper to cover the windows in order to block the view of people observing from outside the room. And why are no certified poll watchers permitted into the counting area ? Why is there ANY secrecy at all ? What are they hiding ?
I’d also like to know why the Democrats and Mr. Biden in particular has not agreed to the examination of the ballots. Surely , if he feels he actually “won” the election , wouldn’t he want to prove and demonstrate that ? Shouldn’t Mr. Biden welcome this examination of the vote ?

It is obvious that legal action will be ANOTHER waste of time and tax dollars, lawyers are a very tight union, one lies and the rest swear to it, our legal system has been a disgrace for decades, how many innocent people sent to prison? I had a vote changed on me by a machine once in Colorado. … Somewhere between 1984 and the mid nineties. I reviewed all my choices before pulling the handle, so caught the machine’s illegal switch. I changed it back to MY vote.

Still don’t trust computers for elections. Computers do what people tell them to do, if you have people with a grudge, well they can make the computer what they want them to do. And forget about trusting computers, I prefer the old ways, verify and watch. Why, in his communication to prosecutors, did he merely “authorize” to investigate? why not authorize and direct them to investigate? If prosecutors are democrats, i suspect they will not be inclined to do any such investigation. I heard ballots were filled out for people who didn’t vote. How do you resolve that? Did they stop counting votes for the night to have time to fill in ballots for a Biden win? What a mess.

I am 73 years old and always voted in person except for the year I was in Florida. Then, I had an absentee validated ballot. I feel as if I am living in a third world country now. Reminds me of the first time the Afghans voted. This chaos is for the Democrats to achieve their goal of total control over us. They used a political pandemic to rig the election of Donald Trump. What took so long?!!! I’m afraid dimocratic election officials have been given enough time to have changed, commingled, created and lost boxes of ballots. It’s impossible to have an honest recount now. The FBI should have had ballots under guard since the night of the elections!

It is my understanding that the constitution requires that the president be chosen on election day, not days or weeks later.Everyone knows the dems violated the trust of the American people by voter fraud.

Without complete transparency of the software, the counting process, and the after-hours ballot harvesting, this could spell disaster for any and all future elections. If there is no confidence in this election process, what is this country all about? The people of all political persuasions in America demand this integrity. If people are found to have violated the laws that changed the outcome of election, they should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. My guess this is going to go fairly high up the Democrat hierarchy, and there should be not excuses to not pursue any and all criminals.

A real legitimate reason for a national photo ID card to present when voting or picking up an absentee ballot. Democrats claim that this would disenfranchise blacks and poor Americans. That is BS. You can’t do anything today without a photo ID. Try to open a checking account or buy a plane ticket without a picture ID.
So sad, but I have no confidence in this year’s voting system. It was so obvious from the very beginning that the Democrats were going to take advantage of Covid and encourage their people to vote by mail. Unless you requested a ballet, no one should have received one in the mail. I’m 73 years old and have always voted in person, showed my driver’s license, and had no problem voting. That is what we must go back to to ensure voting fraud does not occur. Again, I have NO CONFIDENCE in our current voting system. Those irregularities that, by themselves, might not impact the outcome of the election could be part of larger trends, in a greater context, that taken together might add up to something. So, 15 illegal ballots here won’t change the results, but add those to the 1200 dead voters in the next county, and you’ve possibly got a change in the winner’s name and corruption on your hands. Every instance of fraud, no matter how seemingly “unimportant”, must be tallied before certification, not “after the election certification process is completed”. No? Maybe an investigation in one state could uncover part of a nationwide (or party-wide) effort to get a particular person into office. You can’t know what you’ve got until you start digging.
I hope AG Barr will pursue this to the end. He needs to instill confidence in the elections process so we won’t worry that the next election will be automatically suspect.
