The highly anticipated first presidential debate took place in Cleveland last night. Despite the Biden campaign’s request for breaks every 30 minutes, Joe Biden managed to stay upright though not unaffected by President Trump’s verbal assaults. The President’s strategy to disrupt Biden was evident early on and worked in some instances as the former Vice President told Trump to “shut up” and resorted to name calling, referring to him as a “liar,” “racist,” and “clown.”
President Trump seemed to have two debate opponents last night as the FOX News moderator, Chris Wallace wore many hats. When Biden interrupted Trump and the two men were talking over each other, he acted much like a playground monitor. On occasion, he appeared to act as a Biden campaign surrogate when he did not provide the President opportunity for pushback to Biden’s perpetuation of a number of liberal narratives including, the President’s comments about “fine people” at a neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville in 2017 that were distorted by the media. He also allowed Biden to claim that Antifa does not exist without any follow-up questions regarding the destruction done by the group in American cities. Wallace also carried the water for liberals with his climate change questions. He argued with the President about his interruptions, even though Biden was retaliating with interruptions of his own throughout the night.
Trump landed some solid blows with his explanation of his authority to nominate Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court and had some great one-liners that befuddled Biden, like telling him to not “ever use the word “smart” with me” when the former Vice President referred to his intelligence. Biden, drawing on 47 years’ worth of debate experience, struck Clintonesque poses when he looked directly into the camera to somewhat dramatically address the television audience with vague platitudes. Biden did say confusing things last night like professing that the Green New Deal would pay for itself in time and then admitting that he didn’t support it — in the same sentence. He also said that America’s suburbs were being burned and flooded because of climate change and tornadoes were striking the Midwest due to global warming.
When Wallace asked the candidates if violence in American cities is a party issue, President Trump delivered an effective sound byte when he said, “Yes. Look at Chicago.” Biden also refused to answer questions regarding packing the Supreme Court and could not name any law enforcement agency that endorsed his candidacy when pressed by President Trump.
There was much arguing and disruption throughout this debate and it failed to deliver any substantive discussion on policy. Both men were on the attack and their dislike for each other dominated the evening. Supporters of both Biden and President Trump are probably pleased with what they saw last night, but the debate did little to give those undecided voters the fundamental reasons they need to decide who to support in November. There are two more debates on the calendar which (hopefully) means two more opportunities for the public to compare and contrast these two men with very different visions for America.

I found it interesting that the next morning’s early polls had President Trump winning the debate…until the “alphabet” news agencies started reporting that “Vice President” Biden won. You could spread those reports of a garden and grow bigger vegetables (if the BS didn’t burn up your crops).
I agree w/you, Patriot Will, of the hope President Trump can better prepare & show his brilliant leadership!
I will pray for that exactly for him! We all NEED to pray for him!!!
Additional comment:
If you did not participate in the DC Prayer March by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn., led by his son Franklin Graham of Samaritan’s Purse, did you see the live stream video of it? That is where our hearts, minds, souls need to be focusing!! I “think”, you can find the link on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn. web site.
Another happening at the same time (only located at the Washington Monument towards the Capitol area with the seemingly same size of crowd as at the Lincoln Memorial!!) is called “RETURN”.
My daughter & her 5 friends traveled to DC for the Prayer March, but found themselves at the “RETURN” which was very dynamic! There, too, was a Christian experience that was quite profound!!
The main speaker, who is author of the book “HARBINGER” (and has “HARBINGER II out as well). Many years back I read the first book & it definitely made a HUGE impression on me.
However, being careful concerning the NT warnings about false prophets, I asked God about what had been “prophesized” w/in that book. I left it on what I call “my shelf of questions, which I ask God, & await His answer/s if and when He wants me to know in His time”.
I had forgotten about it until it was mentioned via the video! Thus my “excitement” of is this going to be TRUE?!
I highly recommend you to explore all the above I’ve mentioned!!
Why are the commentators always liberal?
I am a Trump supporter, but was extremely disappointed in The President’s inability to control his temper. The best way to sink Basement Joe Biden’s chances is to LET HIM TALK. The President doesn’t need to impress ME; he needs to impress that precious few who haven’t made up their minds. By losing his temper he’s reminding people of the playground bullies of their childhoods–and “poor Joe” fits the victim part perfectly. If anyone knows how to get the President’s ear, please tell him he’ll win by smiling, striking poses, and responding with coolness. I agree with the young conservative columnist at the National Review that he will lose if he keeps up this quite silly tactic.
(I disagree with that columnist who claims the mistake is irrecoverable, but for Heaven’s sake, literally, Donald, get a grip!)
Joe Biden says he will follow the “Biden Plan”.
Guess what?
The Biden Plan IS the Green New Deal!!!
Very disappointing debate. Of course President Trump is the only choice. He could have easily won this debate and gained new voters, but his conduct was reprehensible. I understand his anger, but he is intelligent enough and powerful enough to rise above his ire and deliver succinct points laced with his apt humor. I expected more from him in this first debate. I expected nothing from Joe Biden, but he presented better than I had thought he would.
The debate was two against one; Trump vs Biden / Wallace. TRUMP won!
Biden didnt n couldnt defend himself for his past position w the WORST president. eight years of corruption, 47 years of doing nothing that benefitted Americans. Everything he wanna do, HE SHOULDV DONE WHEN HE HAD THE CHANCE. NOW he wants to do it? SLOW JOE appropriate…

Looked at both FOX & CNN news today, and this is good example of how divided this nation has become. FOX thought Trump did a great job & won & CNN talked about what a shambles debate was & Trump rudeness. Then today, Trump stated he did a good job & according to polls he won big and Biden apologized for the debacle. Also, one source said viewers for 2016 first debate was 85-million and that last night was about 65-million.
What chaos last night, more like bar room arguments. I would like to see : Ronald Reagan in this debate with Trump. He would have showed Thow a candidate for President would act. Which reminds me, today I saw a quote from Reagan 1964 speech called A Time for Choosing & this quote “Government cannot control the economy without controlling the people”
The President should have left blabbering Joe ramble on and hang himself which he always does. The President’s constant interruptions only made Joe look like he had more self control. The moderator was softer on Joe, evidently afraid of criticism from the left who always cutup Fox News anyway. But who can blame The President’s anger after the awful biased abuse of the media for the last 4 years.
I watched Biden’s eyes during the debate, and I am tempted to swear that he was on some kind of drug (narcotic, maybe?) to give him more energy, maybe even more clarity of thought and speech. That possibility would help to explain his better-than-should-be-expected performance. I firmly believe that he should have been tested for drugs on the night of the debate. His eyes did not look normal at all.
The only things Biden has ever been good for are; selling his influence for the enrichment of his family and being assassination insurance for Obama. NOBODY would have dared harm Barry with this buffoon waiting in the wings!
I was totally disgusted with the whole thing I mean I can understand President Trump unleashing his Fury against somebody who has been his nemesis for the last 3 years or possibly more who’s but who’s counting but last night’s Fiasco was extremely embarrassing and 10 minutes into the situation I had to switch it off because I came for a debate not two 2 year olds
Just couldn’t watch a 2-hr out-of-control argument! The moderator should have an assistant who controls the mikes by the timer so only one speaker can be heard! They feed on one another; unprofessional is the only decent word I can think of!
The disrespect of calling the President of the United States a clown!!! And Chris Wallace had nothing! Biden is not fit to be president if this is how he talks and feels about our President, how does he really feel about the people of this country?
Trump interrupted Biden too often. He should have backed off about 25% through the debate after he felt Biden was on the ropes. Keep interupting did not make Trump look good to the general (on the fence) public.
Rather than lister to on air experts telling me what they think about he debate I much prefer hearing and reading from my fellow citizens. Many of the comments on the bottom of the page are as telling as the comments on the top with the most votes. This was not a debate and there can never be a debate unless the Democrats come up with solutions that we deem to be important. The debate format needs to be changed and the moderator needs to be just that, a moderator. Wallace was even worse than I expected. He wanted a back alley battle and the President justifiably provided his part.
Chris Wallace was so Pro Joe!
How could Joe function so well… drugs!
I only hoped that next time the President would state what he has accomplished in 4 yrs with every demoncrat from hell on his back. It is a miracle.
I could not watch the whole thing.
Trump was able to get Biden to specify how much he plans to raise the corporate tax rate. Seven percent is equivalent to 7 million jobs that could be shaved from the labor force. He was also able to get Biden to admit that he has no commitment to the Green New Deal which is the opposite of what Bernie bragged about.
Biden was outmatched in spite of Chris Wallace’s cutting in to save Biden a few times.
Frankly I was disappointed with the way President Trump acted. He was disrespectful and those that were on the fence around here have now jumped fence that I know. Can’t say I blame them and I’m a die hard fan. Least favorite performance to date in my opinion. When asked about what he did for the blacks he should have named ALL the things he has done for them. There are about 17 things BESIDES the getting the innocent and lesser crimes out of jail. Better schools, colleges and on and on, but he went blasting Biden about what HE hadn’t done instead of saying what he HAD done in the past 3 years. When asked about hate groups, he should have gone ahead and condemned them ALL, we all hate the HATE groups in America, Antifa is no better than the KKK and we both know they are Democratic even though the KKK has changed sides for the most part. Skinheads come from prisons, no loss there, they are a hate group and BLM IS a hate group, led by Marxists which he could have gently stated is much different from black people. He loves black people as I love black people as he clearly shows. In my opinion, blacks are no different from me other than many have been kept down due to various circumstances. Others have done extremely well. My doctor today still thinks Trump said all Mexican people are rapists, murderers, etc and that needs to be corrected in these debates. At any other time, newscasts can cut off the President, but not in the debates, so he needs to use this time to clarify his statement. This is the time to UNITE the people, not to divide them. He needs to show how he loves ALL the people in the United States. Whites, blacks, Mexican-Americans (Hispanics), Orientals, Muslims, etc. We know he does, but others don’t because the liberal stations have used soundbites to make sure he sounds racist and xenophobic. Biden certainly has had plenty of soundbites that should have been aired of being racist if the press played fairly, we know it doesn’t. IF Trump is going to attack Hunter, then he needs to quote the agencies that are doing the investigations and SHOW the American people of the guilt. We who KNOW the two sources recognize the truth but others think it’s a conspiracy theory. It’s the same with the votes, even though five states have already shown voting errors , discarded ballots, etc.. People in my area think there is no problem because they aren’t seeing this on the news networks they watch. They think Trump screaming voter fraud is why he won’t accept the voting results and think Biden said he would accept those results last night. I didn’t exactly hear that he would, not on Nov. 3, anyway. Anyway, Trump needs to clarify what states had these voting problems already, how many votes had problems-how many for Joe, how many for him, etc. I know it happened with both candidates. Anyway, I’ve said enough. Oh, and frankly, just show the blasted taxes already. We know he paid them. Who cares how much he really paid.
While I will agree with many comments made by AMAC’s view of the debate, I disagree very much with their view of how well President Trump did. While am strongly in favor of Trumps reelection over any Democrat, and have supported him to the extent I am able financially, I was embarrassed by Trump’s constant interruptions, bullying, off subject comments, and lack of professionalism. I was so looking forward to him debating Biden with all of the great accomplishments he has made during his 1st 4 years in office, more like he did in debates with Hilary Clinton, but there was little of that. Instead he chose to perform, as he is unfortunately often prone to do, when facing an opponent who may have criticized, or made disparaging comments about him. like a childish teenager might. If only he would learn something about the art of debating, like Ronald Reagan was so expert at, and try to leave a debate at least looking like he made a reasonable effort at being professional. His debates with Hillary Clinton were so much better. It is so important that he win this election over Joe Biden. And while I was not happy at all with the job Chris Wallace did as moderator, mostly because of his complete loss of any control of the debate, I doubt that many could have done much better in trying to control Trump’s unreasonable disruptive interruptions. I pray that he does much better in all future debates and interviews, but Biden, even with all of the lies he got away with, won this debate, hands down. For God’s sake, and America’s, VOTE REPUBLICAN!
I was disappointed in the way Wallace refereed the train wreck of a debate. Although Wallace played a big role in causing the train wreck, each of the candidates tried to get their points in, but, Bidden was the only one who was able to get the most negative dialogue. He was able to freely call names, and outright lie in the face of known fact. I was not impressed with Trump although he did say it like it was, and was able to get to the “do not push” buttons of Biden’s personality, and under his skin. (so to speak), and although he fought back like a back ally gutter fighter, which I would have done in the same out numbered situation. I believe that he showed me that he still has a lot of fight in him and won’t hesitate to hit back harder and dirtier than that which is being done to him. He Still has my vote, although I would classify the debate as a slow motion train wreck. with no one to blame except Wallace.
Biden claimed 1% of African Americans have died of the Chinese (yes that’s right CHINESE) virus. Since the African American population is about 13% of the total population (about 328 million), that means there about 42.6 African Americans in the country. If 1% of them have died solely because of the Chinese virus, then 426,000 have lost their lives. The current death toll for the virus is about 211,000. What is wrong with this picture? It’s one of 2 things: Biden is DUMB, or Biden is LIAR. In his case it’s probably both
I did not think last night was a “debate”. It turned out to be an argument with both talking over each other. I missed some of Trump’s points because of that. I picked up a list of Trump’s accomplishments since he became President and he would have easily shut down Biden if he just read the list of what he did in 47 months compared to Biden’s 47 years.
He is President and can command decorum with his official presence, as well as, his physical presence he does present a commanding force. Silence sometimes can say more than words.
One question that I seem to have missed, did Obama or Biden make their tax returns public when they served in office? How much did they pay in taxes? One thing to be taxed as an individual or to be taxed as a corporate real estate developer–tax rules are different.
This was the most stressful thing I witnessed since my divorce ! I am very disappointed in all 3. Trump is my man but needs a little more self control.
I know Trump was trying to push Biden into one of his infamous guffaws, but he came away just looking like an asshole.
Hopefully next debate will have a moderator who will ask the tough questions, and both candidates will follow the rules, let each other speak, and stand on the facts and their own records.
If Trump highlights his actual accomplishments, and exposes Biden’s shortcomings over his 47 year political career, Trump will dominate the debate.
I have been & will continue to be a Trump supporter. However, watching the circus fiasco last night called a “debate” was so disgusting of ALL who participated in it!!!! It was completely out of control w/the “moderator” adding to each debate partner in talking over everyone!
Perhaps as written by someone else, it was Trump’s plan to disrupt whatever Biden was saying, but to me, it sounded rude and like two little boys arguing on the playground. Very childish, to say the least!
This “review” will probably bring down the “house of vile words” to me but I am being honest with how I felt and why I turned it off after about 30 min. It, for me, was a waste of time.
I doubt I’ll even bother to turn on to try to get through what is trying to be said for the 2, “so called” debates.
I see the comment below by “Richard” and I wonder, now, it the Moderator interruptions were part of a plan to make Trump look bad. I’d say “they” managed to do it!!
I wonder if President Trump needs a different strategy in handling Biden?????
Chris Wallace’s Rosebud
Chris Wallace has wallowed in the shadow of famous father for a lifetime. Advancing to the hallowed ground of the the swamp called Washington DC he has set out to make a name for himself, chasing the chimera. Well versed in the family tradition of facts be damned ‘I got ‘ya’ ambush journalism. Raised by his mother and a former President of CBS News, not his biological father, he is a Harvard graduate. A product of Elysium, the paradise of the American elite.
In the last 24 hours, two events stand out in my mind. The first 2020 Presidential Debate and a disturbing heart wrenching video of a woman, Starlem Sameik, who’s nephew had been ‘gang bang’ murdered.
The most notable event during the debate was when Chis Wallace tried to force words out of President Trump’s mouth by repeating a much worn out Democratic Party lie about what President Trump is alleged to have said about ‘white supremacists’. President Trump did not refuse to condemn white supremacists, he refused to allow Christ Wallace to shove his metacarpus up the President’s sphincter and move his lips.
As these two visions stand out in my mind, my suburban wife and daughter fall for this Rosebud moment.
I asked my fellow viewers; give me an example of ‘white supremacists’ activity? (insert cricket noise here) I honestly don’t know any ‘white supremacists’. I know a lot of flawed humans but, not any true ‘white supremacists’.
In comparison, how many black on black murders were committed in the last 24 hours?
The tragedy of this media revenue generating and war bonnet stuffing stunt is that not a single issue facing this country has been addressed. These issues have been around since long before candidate Trump rode down the escalator he built. They’ve been around for at least 47 years.
Thanks Rosebud

(I don’t want to lose my job, have my life, family and property damaged by the love culture.)
We can expect more of the same in debates two and three, PRESIDENT TRUMP will again have to face two opponents as the two moderators will be socialist/dems, the msm(foxnews included) is out to destroy TRUMP AND AMERICA by any means necessary, I would very much like to see an honest debate but it will not be allowed because the left cannot win without cheating! RED, KAG, MAGA, VOTE TRUMP2020 AND REPUBLICAN!!
I support Trump, not that I like him as a person, I do not, but I do approve of what he is doing and trying to do for our country, I totally oppose socialism and marshall law which will be forced on us if Biden wins, Pres. Trump needs to keep his mouth shut more. He is his WORST enemy and if I was undecided on who to vote for in this election, I’m afraid that after watching last nite’s face off, I would most likely vote for BIDEN, I think Pres. Trump’s behavior helps Biden and hurts himself. I don’t know at this point whether I will watch another debate between the two!
I voted for Trump in the past. Will vote for his policies this time. I was ashamed of him last evening. President Trump fell so short last evening. First and foremost, the American people have wanted him to forego the schoolyard tactics and to act presidential. Every fair political analyst, Republican Congressman and friend that have been on the talk shows for the past week have said it as well. We are tired of the disgraceful manners. He had to win over those who cannot stand him, who agree with his policies, but vote with their emotions against him. He did not win them over last night but probably cemented their vote against him. If only he had been presidential and did as President Reagan, when attacked, “there you go again”. Oh what a win that would have been!!!!.
Wallace reminded Joe of aspects of his energy plan, when Joe couldn’t articulate them. Is that the moderators job? I am hoping to hear more policies from both. I also think Joe needs to answer for brokering lucrative deals for Hunter in China, Russia, and Ukraine while he was VP.
Wallace had no shame! A moderator he wasn’t. Trump had to debate two liberals last night. Time and again I was anticipating how Biden would manage to avoid a truthful answer – when Wallace would rescue him. Trump in his frustration would interrupt as Biden was about to self-destruct. He should have let Biden hang himself. Our country’s future is at stake. This is serious business. So many important questions to be asked, but Wallace asks about Trump’s taxes…a favorite of the drive-by media. Trump could have reminded millionaire Biden of Biden’s less than $400. given to charity over almost a decade! Loaded questions like challenging Trump on the “science” of climate change were inappropriate, especially when the “science” does NOT demonstrate that climate change is caused by man. No questions regarding foreign policy, trade, immigration, Black Lives Matter. Trump managed to introduce a few facts about the burning, murdering, and wanton destruction currently impacting American cities, run by Democrats. However, Wallace never challenged Biden when he claimed riots were in Tulsa too. What riots? Shame, shame. So much info was left on the floor. Next debate?
I voted for Trump in 2016 & I’ll “probably” be voting for him this year, BUT, I was terribly disappointed in the debate itself. I think Trump would have shined had he controlled his temper. Biden was defensive and argumentative & BOTH were RUDE. The real problem began with Chris Wallace, who appeared TOTALLY unable to moderate and had no control, whatsoever. He also appeared to be a HUGE Joe Biden supporter – at times it seemed it was Trump vs Biden AND Wallace. Totally BIASED ! That’s the last debate I’ll be watching this year and maybe forever. If you can’t be fair to both sides, you have no business being a moderator. Why would FOX send Chris Wallace, clearly a liberal, to moderate this debate ? Reminds me of the 2016 incident when Donna Brazile gave the questions to HRC PRIOR TO the 2016 election – how could she get away with this and, (THEN FOX GIVES HER A JOB) ! There was absolutely no important issues debated that the TV audience could CLEARLY hear – so what was the purpose of three grown men talking over each other ? DEBATE – NO, DEBACLE! SHAME ON FOX !
I could not believe how crude and rude he was last night. Chris needed a mute button. Biden actually did say Shut Up. They both agreed to having each speak uninteruped. Trump didn’t keep his word. How disgraceful.
I was a reluctant Trump voter in 2016 and that debate reminded me why I hesitated. Trump was obviously trying to confuse Biden but I can’t see why he thought he needed to. He has done so many absolutely wonderful things for this country and for the world. Why didn’t he just let his record speak for itself and let Biden bury himself in the socialist agenda.
The interruptions made Trump look like a bully – again. He certainly didn’t win over any women who were on the fence about voting for him. I think Trump wasted his time, and the opportunity to circumvent the liberal media. I will still vote for him, but I thought his performance was disgusting.
I didn’t like Wallace calling Biden Vice President, he is the ex-vice president. The President should not have attacked Hunter but I was glad when the Pres said that Hunter had a dishonorable discharge. The subject of Joe’s connection to Russia was extremely important and the video showing the arrogrant than Vice President threatening Ukraine would have had a better effect.
Trump needs to calm down and act Presidential. Wallace is just like his Dad…liberal as can be. If Trump gave Biden time to answer the questions he would have started mumbling and stammering. Hope the Donald learned from this.
What is Pres. Trump’s vision for America? I’m afraid I missed the discussion on this. I kept waiting for it but got lost in the verbal battle.
I had every good intention of not listening to this food fight but I miscalculated the time so when I turned the radio on, there they were. And of course once I was tuned in, sick fascination kept me listening to the last half hour of what turned out not to be a food fight but an all out mud rassle. Given what I heard, I believe that the the left set a huge trap for Trump, and he jumped in with both hind legs. Shouting over your opponent, especially during the opponent’s allotted time, adds absolutely no value and causes the offender to look wild and unpresidential. In a situation like this, there are no winners, and the biggest losers of all are the tens of thousands of unfortunates who squandered two hours of their lives on this rubbish. Apparently there is one more of these things scheduled in about one months time. My only hope is that, in the interests of good taste, they cancel the thing and instead televise Benny Hill or Mr. Bean reruns.
p.s. my final closing comment would have been to the moderator. “I hope the check from the DNC is in the mail. You earned it.”
The debate last evening was extremely disappointing. As a staunch conservative Republican, I had high hopes that President Trump would show up Dopey Joe for the idiot he is and smother his socialist rantings, but this did not happen. I fully expected that Trump would use something like Muhammed Ali’s “Rope-a-Dope” technique or Ronald Reagan’s “There you go again!” technique to suck Biden in and lure him to his doom. The opportunity for a knockout blow was lost big time.
First, President Trump appeared to be very tired and off his usual game. He did not project the vibrant presence we have come to see in many of his campaign appearances. He also seemed poorly prepared for this debate and lost a golden opportunity to set the tone of the debate by speaking directly to the American people about all the accomplishments he has made during his Administration, rather than just arguing with and responding to Dopey Joe’s pratings. He did not take the high ground. While the President did make a few points, he missed the opportunity to get across the message America desperately needs to hear without filtering and distortion by the lamestream media.
Second, true, Biden remained erect for the 90-minute marathon (a real surprise), but Biden got much of his false message across despite the President’s constant interruptions. Biden was also able to interject a number of the false labels that have been constantly applied to Trump by the Demsheviks and the lamestream media, such as, calling Trump a “liar.” Most of these derogatory attacks were not addressed or countered at all by Trump, but were left in place which would suggest to many listeners that the labels were true. Biden also demonstrated better “stage presence” by looking into the camera when addressing viewers. I was also surprised that Biden did as well as he did to avoid obvious gaffes that would have supported the “Dementia Joe” label.
Third, Chris Wallace was totally ineffectual in moderating this debate. Along with his other shortcomings during the debate, Chris Wallace essentially failed the American people. Much of the 90-minutes was spent with everyone trying to talk over everyone else and going off question. This is not how a debate should be conducted.
So, who “won” this debate? Neither Trump nor Biden came out as an obvious heads-up decisive winner, but unfortunately Biden obviously came out way ahead of where he should have and unfortunately Trump let him get there. Unfortunately, this debate was a “win” for Biden. Let’s hope debates two and three go better than debate one did.
We need another non-biased moderator. Chris Wallace is obviously a Biden hack, carrying the water for “SleepyJoe.” What a puss. While I did not enjoy the back and forth bickering, it was 2 against 1. I don’t blame President Trump for firing back. How about Bill O’Reilly for a moderator?
I think Chris Wallace is a complete ass. In the past, he has shown a dislike for President Trump, Wallace was supposed to be neutral. Wallace lost control from the beginning and he turned what was suppose to be an unbiased debate into a joke, while he interrupted the President repeatedly.
