Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris met last night at the University of Utah for their only Vice Presidential debate. It was a 90-minute affair hosted by USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page.
Senator Harris labored throughout the night to blame the Trump Administration for the coronavirus pandemic. She called the Administration’s response a “failure” while feigning an outraged look as she spoke directly to the Vice President. She attempted to place the oft-disputed total number of US coronavirus deaths at the foot of the Trump Administration while the Vice President responded with one of several well-placed counter blows.
After Harris described how a Biden Administration would have handled the onset of the pandemic earlier this year, Pence said that their plan looked a lot like what President Trump and he were already doing. In a response that rattled Harris and referenced Biden’s 1988 failed Presidential bid, he said their plan sounded a lot like plagiarism, something he noted that the former Vice President should be familiar with.
When questioned about the forthcoming coronavirus vaccine, Harris said that she would take it only if it were approved by physicians and that she would not take it if President Trump instructed the nation to do so. Pence seized the opportunity to shame Harris, calling her attempt to undermine the confidence in the vaccine “unconscionable.”
Vice President Pence was calm and in control with a track record of facts, although he did interrupt her at times during the event. Harris was caught in several lies that were immediately called out by Pence including her campaign’s pledge to rescind the Trump tax cuts and ban fossil fuels and fracking. Her lies combined with her continuation of false narratives like the President’s statements about the Charlottesville protest in 2017 prompted another superbly landed response from the Vice President that he used more than once when he told her she was “entitled to your own opinion, but … not entitled to your own facts.”
Harris managed to work in reliable progressive talking points like “free college” and “cutting student loan debt” while using scare tactics when she looked directly into the camera and gravely announced that the Trump Administration is “coming for you” if you have a preexisting health condition.
While Harris painted a doom and gloom scenario during the discussion about climate change, calling it an “existential threat,” Pence countered with how the Administration’s fracking initiative lowered CO2 emissions via natural gas innovations.
Pence also rightfully characterized Biden as a cheerleader for China and contrasted his compliance with the communist regime with the Trump Administration’s record of standing up to it.
While Harris was looking smug, arrogant and using a condescending tone, Pence dismantled her police reform rhetoric by pointing out her filibuster of Senator Tim Scott’s police reform legislation. He also called out Harris’ non-existent record on criminal justice reform during her time as the Attorney General of California. The Vice President directly asked Harris if she would pack the Supreme Court if elected and when she ignored his question, he noted her non-response.
Moderator Susan Page was barely better than Chris Wallace who moderated the first Presidential debate, but still limited some of the Vice President’s response time. She also appeared to manufacture her own facts about the economy, calling the recovery slower than expected despite the robust September jobs report, something Pence should have highlighted. Pence did use an effective tactic when he used his time during other questions to counter previous Harris falsehoods while also addressing the question’s issue. Hopefully, his boss will consider adopting this technique.
As the debate wound down, Page asked the Vice President what he would do should President Trump refuse a “peaceful transfer of power,” and he delivered one of the best lines of the night when he said that Harris and her party have spent the last three years trying to undue the results of the 2016 election. He also referenced Hillary Clinton’s very public advice that Biden should under no circumstances concede the election.

Can anyone tell me why the Presidential Debate Committee won’t include a conservative moderator for a change? Or why the END puts up with only liberal moderators?
I totally support Donald Trump. He is not perfect but does a great job under the duress caused by the liberals. I can just them them when they were nominated jumping up and down like the fools they are. I am going to run for President, etc. Our President has more brain power in one eye lash than those other two have in their total body. If they would stop harassing him he would really show them. Those democrats are self centered and not concerned with the damage they cause with their laws and votes. No values, no brain function. If you look at some much of the damage and hypocrisy out there, as I see it (the wall, etc.) sending our medicine to China to be manufactured and the list goes on, democrats again. no wonder someone gave them the symbol of a jack __ -__.
I tried to listen to the debate but a lot of subject matter is over my head, in that I’m not that immersed in the minute pieces of what makes it so. I sort of have an idea of what’s happening, however, but not really that astute.
Thus, what I noticed was what I wondered, “am I being paranoid?” or did I pick up something/s.
First, it became very apparent the moderator was more fond of Harris, in that it seemed to me Harris had “ample” time to give answers, whereas, it appeared that V.P. Pence did not. I’d love to see a clock w/a second hand ticking around on the screen to see if I was “picking up” on something I merely had a “feeling”.
Also, the moderator did not say as multiple times to Harris, “Thank you, Senator. Your time is up.” Not at all as many times as she did to V.P. Pence which was harsher in tone, and the words rapidly said over’n’over’n’over again!!
I even screamed, “SHUT UP!” to the moderator!!!
Honestly, why are moderators picked to the “delightful” effect in favoring the liberal speaker over the conservative speaker? Isn’t there SOME WAY it could be a lot more fairer?
That’s my “little bit”, I’m wondering about.

Both agreed to rules of debate, which was 2-minutes time with no interruptions from other person. Same with Trump at his 1st debate, he continued to talk during other person time & would not respect moderator & quit this. Now , Pence does similar thing as he continued to talk for several seconds over his allotted time almost every time & did not respect the moderator. Both Trump & Pence showed that they could be rattled by the other & just had to defend their points. Debates this election are being ruined by poor behaviors.
I think VP Pence did a remarkable job; however, my main concern is that the general population is not seeing through the Biden/Harris lies, because, have no doubt about it, Harris lied as much as Biden. This is the most important election in my lifetime and I want everyone to know what a good President Trump has been and that we need him and Pence for another 4 years. We also have to take back the House and the Senate to get Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer OUT.
What ‘could have been said’, will always be shared by individuals who, although they were not subject to the stress of the event, who were not – at a moment’s notice – called upon to speak, and/or rebut, and/or challenge what the moderator was saying, and/or what the opponent was saying, and respond to what their position is regarding the statement or question made by the moderator. All things considered, Pence is ‘presidential’ now and later! Harris is neither material for Vice President – nor, God forbid – President, when Biden’s ‘marbles’ completely hit the floor.

I could see the moderator was biased ,the questions were biased and VP Pence performed superbly . It’s a shame to call Ms Harris a senator and I personally feel she must represent some other country .
I enjoying listening to the VP debate and noticed all the nuisances which the left seem to purposely ignore while concentrating on a fly which apparently was on camera on Mike Pence’s white hair. It seems even the camera people were leftist and totally forgot to be professional with the camera focus.
These debates are all meaningless in my opinion and I refuse to waste my time on them. This election is very simple:
Either choose the very real and very significant accomplishments by President Trump over the last four years or the complete lack of meaningful accomplishments by Biden over the past 45 years.
Frankly, President Trump’s accomplishments have been a major surprise, outstanding really. Considering the unprecedented and dishonorable effort of the Democrats including their media allies to torpedo his term by any means necessary including outright lies, those accomplishments were not expected. To keep this short I will not start to list those accomplishments in this note, but it would be easy and they absolutely exist.
No debate, no new and probably phony accusations against the president, nothing is likely to change my opinion and make me vote for Biden, nor will I stay home and not vote. Four good years against 45 mediocre years at best = No contest.

I may be totally off base, but I would love to have any candidate actually provide an answer to the question that was asked instead of throwing in some inane comment that has little or nothing to do with the question asked. It would be refreshing to see the candidate actually address the subject matter.
MISINFORMATION from Trump’s Doctors? REALLY? That was part of a question to VP Pence by Susan Page. Pence should have called her out and told her to rephrase the question. Page never used that word in a question to Harris, Harris spouted out more misinformation about Covid than truth!
Harris did not have substance. Just kept harping on the pandemic. Regardless of any political party in office, the responsibility to ease the pain is on the individuals. There are many inconsiderate idiots out there that have little respect for theirs as well as the health of others by not wearing face coverings and social distancing.
The question on climate control was ridiculous. There have been drastic wild fires for hundreds of years and our current climate has little to do with it, especially California.
The man reason for the Earth temperature rising is the massive developments. Heat during the day is absorbed in the concrete and structures. It takes a long time to dissipate. The result in temp rise because the heat has not disinpated by day break then begins to absorb more heat, causing rise in temperature. Southern California is now one massive concrete jungle of a heat sink.

She seems to me like a very evil woman. She was very arrogant and assertive. She lied quite a few times and was always attacking the potus. She didn’t mention any plans that they have other than what President Trump was already doing. As far as I am concerned Vice President Pence ate her lunch.
Debates: Both candidates should be required to answer question asked by the moderator. Both are asked same question and should not evade question by grasping for get out of jail free card. If they do not answer question, they are hiding something. The debate is worthless if questions are not answered in my opinion.
Very disappointed in Harris/Pence debate last night. Both debaters rambled on about stuff without ever answering question asked of them. Pence was like Trump in the sense that he would keep talking for several more seconds after moderator told him time was up . Pence did not heed this warning from moderator & moderator could not get him to stop. I call the debate a draw, but purely politics from both sides. Did not know that Pence could be so rude to someone like moderator.
This moderator was anything but impartial! She let Harris have the last word on every question and cut off Pence as soon as she could, especially when he was making a point that might make the Trump administration look good. Harris lied so many times I was waiting for her nose to grow! And the way the Democrats talk about the American people makes me sick. Harris is just as condescending as all the other Democrats thinking we can’t survive without leftist in control! Was glad to see Pence challenge her and ruffle her feathers cuz she needed it!

I watched the entire VP debate . Pence won on technical correctness . He had command of all the issues . Lets face it. The entire race is about the fantastically successful first term of Trump/Pence. Harris offered “tried and failed” ideas. Of course the Dems had to offer something. But she was old and stale. The Democrats are running on Liberalism, Socialism , but these ideas have failed EVERYWHERE they were tried. KH lack of policy knowledge, failure to answer questions and bobble headed facial expressions are no match for the truth! She lacks honesty. Can you imagine KS as our President? I can’t. VP Pence was calm and knew the facts and like the President , a man of action-they get things done.. He did a great job! I’m not to crazy on the commentator Page. It seems the first two debate commentators strongly lean to the left. It has been very difficult for President Trump and VP Pence and the rest of us Conservatives to get a fair shake. Why is it? For the rest of us middle class, Biden will destroy us. He will remove Trumps tax relief and tax the heck out of us-and that’s just part of it. As far as the COVID-this is not President Trump’s or VP Pence’s fault. They have done everything they can to get a vaccines and medicines out ASAP; and vaccines are not fool proof. This process takes forever and we have moved ahead quite rapidly. I suspect we have done a lot more than most other affected countries. As far as the 200K + tragic American deaths, I would like to know the breakdown by age, and pre-existing conditions-like Heart problems, DM, CA, etc. Because the Virus may contribute to the deaths but may not be solely responsible for them. It is still sad about losing our people due to the Chinese mismanagement of the problem. Maybe if the Dems were more concerned about Intel vs trying to impeach our President, maybe they could have been of great help to stop this Virus. If Biden had a plan in Mar. why didn’t he announce it? Wasn’t Finstein in charge of Intel at one time and have a Chinese spy working for her for 18 years-why is she still in office. I am sure many will remember the news a few years ago. I recently read a news report on planned parenthood being exposed WITH PROOF ON TAPE illegally selling aborted baby parts in California. Kamala Harris was the attorney general. She did not prosecute PP for proven illegal acts, but charged the videographers with something – i can’t remember quite what. This shows her character.

The communist in the main stream media are claiming Harris won the debate. I watched the debate and that is not true. Furthermore, I do not need anyone left or right to inform me of who won if I watched it I am able to make up my own mind. However, this debate much like the presidential debate was loaded with lies from these so called democrats. It is also impossible to reason with a lying unreasonable person. The only good these debates do is expose the lies to those smart enough to see them which rules out most democrats.
These democrats are indoctrinated making them for the most part socialistic communists or marxist make no mistake about that! Their goal just like Obama’s promised fundamental transformation is a communist nation with total control over everything. Want an example look very closely at Venezuela. Or perhaps Cuba! Much like the United States Venezuela was once successful and quite affluent. Now they starve and medical care like food is nearly non-existent. While Harris did nothing but Lie, condemn and lecture against President Trump, she in arrogance had the audacity to say she would not be lectured by Vice President Pence! The truth and the facts got under her skin and it showed in her weak and shaky voice at times, and in her demeanour! Vice President Pence, aside from being armed with the truth and the facts, had a calm and gentle spirit, and was a gentleman with confidence…The Victor!

Ms. Harris’ debate style was depicted by her facial expressions of arrogance, cynicism, sarcasm and coyness. She should have realized and depended upon her skills, knowledge and abilities which she touted during the debate. She downgraded herself to other women as a result.

I applaud VP Pence for his performance against both Harris and the leftist moderator (again). In my opinion President Trump should refuse to participate in any more debates as they are nothing more than serious debacles with a biased left agenda. There’s nothing fair about them because the Republicans are constantly on the defense in response to the lies being told plus the fact that they avoid answering the questions posed to them. Now if the next scheduled debate happens, not in-person but virtually, then all bets are off as Biden will have his party spoon feeding him everything, and don’t think they won’t!
