Kids “Identifying” as Animals?

Animals

Once you enter Alice’s crazy world, anything is possible; reality is gone, the whole thing is weird, filled with mad hatters, talking cards, changes in size, unchanging clocks, and clever rabbits. Now, after the left has turned boys into girls, girls into boys, some with hormone therapy, they push a new idea. They are pushing to let kids “identify as animals.”

It would be laughable, a dystopian, fictional craziness – if it were not true. They are pushing the concept – with bizarre sexual overtones – of a “furry,” a child identifying as an animal.

When first told schools were encountering this, from Maine to Wisconsin, the thought was humorous, like Halloween year-round, dressing up, so-and-so thinking he or she is a zebra or giraffe.

But when speaking with teachers, the hard reality hit me – kids are being allowed to suspend all reference to reality, integrate into their thinking not only the idea that a girl can become a boy or boy become a girl – and win at sports that way – but they can now become an animal, by will.

Looking at medical literature, in addition to speaking with teachers and reading news stories, I learned the indulgence of such mental health issues – normalizing the abnormal – is entering medical literature.

Wrote one medical journal, part of NIH’s National Library of Medicine: “Furries are individuals who are especially interested in anthropomorphic or cartoon animals …They often strongly identify with anthropomorphic animals and create ‘fursonas,’ identities of themselves as those anthropomorphic animals… Some practice ‘fursuiting,’ or wearing costumes that resemble anthropomorphic animals.” See The “Furry” Phenomenon: Characterizing Sexual Orientation, Sexual Motivation, and Erotic Target Identity Inversions in Male Furries;

Further: “Furries have been portrayed as sexually motivated in the media and popular culture, although little empirical research has addressed this issue.” Of course, the left needs that, too.

The rest of the article – and those like it – spun into the bizarre. The point that stuck is the agenda of the left, in both education and medicine. The left is seeking to “normalize” abnormal identities – ideas damagingly misleading, mentally challenging, distorting youth perceptions.

How much more manipulable is a child who grows up thinking reality is not fixed, that imaginary things work out, like a Marxist utopia? The twists being used now are many, and in many ways cruel, like hormone therapies forced on small children.

Still, there is a common theme. Each idea is more extreme than the last, until the whole dividing line between real and unreal blurs, with (literally) 64 genders, and now it seems animal identities.

The central question is – how far does this dangerous fictionalizing of life, biology, gender, identity, societal norms go? How, absurd must society become before parents say, “stop it.”

Surprisingly, this “furry” phenomenon is not as uncommon as one might suspect. The body of literature is growing up around the idea, and teachers who try to get these kids to return to reality are often viewed as being insensitive.

Justifications are varied, from tolerance for difference and analogies to gender self-identification to autism. In one school, a denial was issued – covered by the New York Times – that “furries” did not get “litter boxes.”  Logical right? Bathrooms for kids who think they are cats? A where, one wonders, are their parents? See, e.g., Help! My Kid Is A Furry, What Do I Do?Let’s Talk About Furries; Why Are So Many Gen Z Kids Becoming Furries?Litter Boxes for Students Who Identify as Furries? Not So, Says School Official.

Likely, this fad will pass – and some of the others may also – but not until average, hard-working, family-oriented, work-centered, value-focused, history- and reality-respecting parents say “enough!”  So much of what the left pushes out is indefensible yet gets allowed.

Last week, the US Senate confirmed a justice to the US Supreme Court who could not define a “woman,” and she is one. Is hat not three steps from declining to distinguish between child and animal?

In the end, logic, science, history, reason, law, and love of our children will likely rescue our society from the downdraft of nonsense masquerading as reality, from 64 genders going to 84, and we will get topside again, out from the underground that is Alice’s odd world.

But that also depends on balanced, logical, scientific, morally grounded people speaking up and declaring a spade a spade, shall we say. Teachers who need support for keeping reality front-and-center need help from parents, grandparents, and schoolboards. And they need help too!

What this new (likely passing) oddity points to is a titanic battle in society for the proper definition of reality, a battle between those who want to distort facts, biology, reality, politics, and laws for their own gain and those who respect reality – and a seminal fact, that society’s survival depends on keeping a grip on reality.

Let’s end on a happier note. Fads come and go, and Americans have long resisted appeals from radicals and Marxists to throw over what we know as reality. Bugs Bunny, the Road Runner, Tom & Jerry, all the rest are funny, chiefly because they are not real. Let’s keep it that way! “Thhhhat’s all folks!”
